AD as a Public Service: Helping women come to terms with the male mentality.

Hate alphadominance?  Ha, you’re not alone.  Frankly my dear, I don’t give a damn.  One mark of the Alpha is complete disinterest in whether others approve of them.  Leaders don’t exist to seek other’s approval.  That is the behavior of a character riddled with insecurity.  This trait of unshakable confidence is deeply alluring to others. Where have the bees gone? Nature on Colony Collapse Disorder.

An excellent program aired on Nature highlighting the problem we now face with CCD or Colony Collapse Disorder, a mysterious affliction that is wiping out honeybee colonies all over the world.  While many might say “So what, I hate the stinging buggers?” bees act as pollinators for a full three quarters of the plants that [...]

Lord of the Ants: E.O. Wilson on Biophilia and Biological Determinism of Behavior

Recently I saw a semi-biographical piece titled “Lord of the Ants” on the life and work of E.O. Wilson, a prominent American naturalist and sociobiologist on Nova.  I enjoyed the show immensely and recommend it to students of evolutionary psych.  Excerpts can be watched online here.

Dirty Birdies: Bird biology shows why offspring need both parents.

Research on birds and other animals that pair for rearing offspring has suggested that the battle of the sexes may be the glue that hold parents together in raising offspring.  While one parent may pick up some of the slack for an absent or lazy parent, they don’t fully compensate for the lack.  This may [...]

Feminist Satire Will Bring a Smile to Your Face

Hat tip to Hawaiian Libertarian for these gems from The Onion.  I suggest reading his whole post as several others were included there.  I chose these two because they particularly highlight the fundamental problems with American women.  First, a riff on a positive body-image Barbie knockoff; hilarity.  This illustrates the fact that women who wail [...]

Armed and Dangerous: Warrior gene linked to violent behavior

Dominant men are prone to violence and aggression. There are doubtless many biological bases for this, including testosterone and nitric oxide levels. Research may have found another however, a genetic variant of a gene named MAOA, aka the “Warrior Gene” (hat tip to blogger Male Chauvinist Woman at Female Misogynist).
